Local festivals in Castellar del Vallès
The Festa Major is usually celebrated around the second Sunday in September. The town centre and venues such as Espai Tolrà host the proclamation, street parades, giants, sardana dancing, music, sport and events organised by the Town Council together with cultural and neighbourhood groups.
Popular culture and community participation
The popular procession, giants’ parade, correfoc fire run and decorated streets bring together colles, associations and residents. Squares, streets and municipal venues become shared settings for dance, fire, music and community gatherings over several days.
Other celebrations and traditional gatherings
On the third Sunday in May, the Aplec de Castellar Vell gathers the community beside the old church of Sant Esteve de Castellar and includes the traditional rice-cooking competition. The local calendar also retains Els Tres Tombs, the Aplec de les Arenes, the Diada Sardanista and the Christmas dioramas created by the Club Pessebrista.
