Local festivals in Berga
La Patum is usually celebrated from Wednesday to Sunday during Corpus Christi week. The passades move through the central streets and squares, while the comparsa dances fill Plaça de Sant Pere with the Tabal, Turcs i Cavallets, Maces, Guites, Àliga, Nans, Gegants and Plens. The Tirabol closes the performances with figures, musicians and the public circling the square together.
Heritage and community organisation
The Patronat Municipal de La Patum, comparsas, musicians, organisations and municipal services organise a celebration of fire, music and collective participation. UNESCO recognised La Patum as intangible cultural heritage in 2005, a milestone reflecting the continuity of its ritual forms and its deep roots in the Berga community.
Other events: Els Elois, Sant Marc and Festa dels Bolets
Els Elois usually occupies a weekend in late July and preserves its guild origins among trades linked to iron, metal, clay, fire and historic carriers. Water-filled passades, the Ballet de Déu, the traditional Alt Berguedà wedding, the blessing of animals and Sant Eloi Mass involve the Junta Conservadora, associations and residents. On 25 April, Sant Marc brings the town to the Queralt sanctuary to renew a civic vow originating in 1687; on the first Sunday in October, the Festa dels Bolets links Pla de Puigventós with Berga through competitions, woodland produce, sardana dancing and mushroom culture.
