Corpus Christi is Toledo's major celebration: the procession passes through the historic centre from the Primate Cathedral beneath awnings, among tapestries, flowers, open courtyards and streets carpeted with thyme.
Usual celebration
The central day is Corpus Christi Thursday, whose date varies between May and June. The monstrance leaves the cathedral and follows a route through the decorated streets of the historic centre, accompanied by the cathedral chapter, confraternities, authorities and traditional groups. The Semana Grande also brings music, culture, courtyards and festivities to public squares and municipal venues.
Other events
Semana Grande extends the celebration beyond the procession, with concerts and activities at La Peraleda, Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Zocodover and Corral de Don Diego.
