Local festivals in Tarancón

The Fiestas y Feria de Nuestra Señora de Riánsares are Tarancón's main celebration. The Semana Grande combines devotion to the patron with clubs, music, communal stews, floats, fire bulls, concerts and activities in the town centre, fairground and San Isidro performance venue.

Usual celebration

The festivities run from 7 to 13 September. The cobete and Galopeo open the programme on the 7th; 8 September is dedicated to the main service, the procession of the Virgin and fireworks; and communal stews and the float parade take place on the 9th. The clubs gather at the marquee venue, while the Mañaneo fills Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

Other events: Virgen de Riánsares pilgrimages

Tarancón keeps two annual transfers of its patron: to the sanctuary on 28 January and back to the town on 15 August. The summer pilgrimage includes a dawn rosary, Mass on the sanctuary esplanade and the transfer of the image to La Asunción parish church.
