Local festivals in Villarrubia de los Ojos

The Virgen de la Sierra Fair and Patronal Festivities are usually celebrated over six days, from 7 to 12 September. Mass and the procession on the 8th follow the traditional route with the patron's image, the town banner and eighteen banners linked to the former territory of the Order of Saint John. The Brotherhood, municipal corporation, religious authorities, residents and visitors share events across the town centre, square, auditorium and fairground.

Virgen de la Sierra pilgrimages

On Easter Monday, families and groups of friends usually walk to the Virgen de la Sierra sanctuary for a country gathering with music. In late August, the image is carried down from the sanctuary to the town on residents' shoulders; on the third Sunday in November it returns to the chapel.

Other celebrations: San Cristóbal and the grape harvest

On the first Sunday in May, the San Cristóbal pilgrimage brings residents to the hilltop chapel, documented since 1575. During the patronal festivities, the Grape Harvest Day features bunches of grapes, the treading of the first fruit and tastings involving the San Isidro Labrador y Santa María de la Cabeza Brotherhood, the Town Council and the local cooperative.
