Local festivals in La Solana
The Santiago and Santa Ana Fair and Festivals and the patronal celebrations of the Virgin of Peñarroya form the core of La Solana's festive calendar. Carnival, the May Crosses and Zarzuela Week add events involving brotherhoods, peñas, associations, performers and municipal services.
Usual celebration
The fair is usually held in late July at the fairground, Plaza Mayor and other town venues. Its main events include the opening parade, proclamation, ceremonies for Santiago and Santa Ana, concerts, bullfighting events and children's activities. In September, the pilgrimage, arrival and offering to the Virgin of Peñarroya combine festive and religious events organised by the Town Council and the Marian brotherhood.
Other events
Carnival is held in February. The municipal cultural calendar also includes Holy Week, the May Crosses, the Film and Wine Festival and National Zarzuela Week.
