Local festivals in Albacete

The Feria de Albacete, dedicated to Virgen de los Llanos and designated a Festival of International Tourist Interest, is the city's major celebration. The City Council, associations, clubs, traders, craftspeople, hospitality businesses, cultural groups and residents take part in an open fair combining commercial tradition, devotion and entertainment.

Usual celebration

The fair is held every year from 7 to 17 September and lasts eleven days when both dates are counted. The opening parade and the opening of Puerta de Hierros lead into the historic fairground, known as La Sartén or Los Redondeles. These venues, the Ejidos, Paseo de la Feria and the streets of the city centre host booths, crafts, rides, music, food, religious events honouring Virgen de los Llanos, children's activities and sporting events.

Local public holidays in 2026

The Official Gazette of Castilla-La Mancha designates 24 June and 8 September as Albacete's paid, non-recoverable local holidays in 2026. Only 8 September falls during the fair; its eleven-day duration does not create eleven labour holidays.

Other cultural events

Other events include Carnival, Holy Week, the Abycine International Film Festival, the Teatro Circo programme and cultural activities in neighbourhoods and outlying settlements. No annual fair programme is included until a complete municipal edition for this year has been published.
