Local festivals of Tudela de Duero

The patronal festivities of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción and San Roque are usually celebrated from 14 to 18 August. The eve opens the cycle, the 15th is devoted to the Assumption and the 16th retains its link with San Roque. Peñas, residents and visitors fill the streets for cultural, sporting and popular activities, alongside the religious and bull-running events included in each municipal programme.

Associated traditions

The Pedida de Toros on the night of 24 July acts as a prologue. Residents gather below the Town Hall balcony to request the bulls that will run during the festivities, a practice linked to Santiago Apóstol and the local peñas. The central August days retain the traditional sequence of the eve, the Virgin and «la Abuela», historically extended through to the 18th.

Other events

Carnival includes a main parade from Plaza de España to the San Roque Félix Martín Serna sports centre with a batucada and brass bands, ending with the burning of the Pelele and a dance session. It joins the Asparagus and Crafts Festival and the Tomato Fair in the town's wider cultural calendar.
