Local festivals in the Real Sitio de San Ildefonso
The municipality brings together celebrations in La Granja and Valsaín. The late-August patronal festivities of San Luis form the broadest festive season, alongside San Ildefonso in January and Nuestra Señora del Rosario in September.
Usual celebration
On 23 January, San Ildefonso is marked by mass in the hermitage and a community lunch in Plaza de los Dolores. The San Luis festivities occupy a week in late August with a proclamation, open-air dances, concerts, giants and big-head figures, peñas, bull runs, toros de fuego and fireworks. 25 August is the main day, featuring the Royal Palace fountains; the Gran Judiada later gathers thousands of diners around La Granja's local judión beans. The Town Council, associations, peñas, musicians, residents and visitors all take part.
Other events
Valsaín celebrates San Antón on 17 January and the Nuestra Señora del Rosario festivities in early September. Holy Week, the Octave of Corpus Christi, Santa Águeda, Carnival and Valsaín's April Fair complete the traditional calendar.
