El Barco's summer festival calendar links three celebrations: Santiago or Los Quintos around 25 July, San Pedro del Barco around 12 August, and the Santísimo Cristo del Caño during the weekend of the first Sunday in September.
Usual celebration
San Pedro del Barco usually occupies three days. During the Cristo festivities, the image is carried in a solemn procession from its hermitage to the church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, where it remains until late October. Giants and cabezudos, dulzainas, the Municipal Band, the proclamation, open-air dances and bull events fill Plaza de España and the town's streets.
Other events
The Lagasca National Amateur Theatre Festival and the summer cultural programme at Valdecorneja Castle complement the calendar, alongside the livestock fair and events at Cine-Teatro Lagasca.
