Local festivals in Los Corrales de Buelna

The usual celebration of the San Juan patronal festivities lasts about a week around 24 June. Plaza de la Constitución, streets in the town centre and the fairground host the proclamation, daytime fair, music, open-air dances, fireworks, sport and family activities. The Town Council, associations, clubs, traders and residents organise and take part in the events.

Cantabrian Wars festival

In late August and early September, the Cantabrian Wars festival usually occupies two weekends and the intervening days. The camp, agora and amphitheatre host parades, battles, ceremonies, theatre, workshops and a period market recreating the conflict between the Cantabrian peoples and Rome. The organising association, tribes, legions, civilian groups, volunteers and the Town Council sustain community participation involving more than a thousand people.

Other events: Magostas de Buelna

Magostas de Buelna usually take place over several weekends in mid-autumn in villages across the valley. Peñas and associations from Los Corrales and San Felices roast chestnuts and organise folklore, food and community gatherings involving residents and visitors, preserving a tradition documented for more than a century.
