Local festivals in Vallehermoso

San Juan Bautista heads the festival calendar in Vallehermoso town, while the Virgen del Carmen forms another of the municipality's major celebrations. Plaza de la Constitución, San Juan Bautista church and the different villages bring together religious tradition, music and Gomera's cultural heritage.

Usual celebration and other events

The San Juan festivities usually culminate on 23 and 24 June. The eve combines the patron's procession with the lighting of bonfires, a tradition recognised as a Festival of Tourist Interest in the Canary Islands. Chácaras, drums, Silbo Gomero, open-air dances and community gatherings complete a celebration spread across the town and its surroundings. The Town Council, Cabildo, cultural groups and local residents participate in the programme.
