Local festivals in Tijarafe
The patron saint festivities in honour of Nuestra Señora de Candelaria combine devotion, La Palma culture and the Danza del Diablo, the most distinctive event in Tijarafe's festival calendar.
Usual celebration
The Danza del Diablo takes place on the night of 7 September in Plaza de Nuestra Señora de Candelaria. Giants and big-headed figures interrupt the street dance before the firework-covered figure appears, ending its dance when its head explodes. The religious service in the church of Nuestra Señora de Candelaria is held on 8 September.
Other events
The Town Council, cultural groups and residents also take part in concerts, exhibitions, street dances and sports events that complete the patron saint programme.
