Local festivals in San Miguel de Abona
The patronal festivities of San Miguel Arcángel are the main festival gathering in the old town of San Miguel de Abona. Each September they combine the romería, religious ceremonies and the transfer of the municipal standard with music, food, sport and neighbourhood gatherings around the church square.
Usual celebration
29 September is the main day devoted to the patron saint. The celebration brings together the Eucharist and procession, a romería with folk groups and traditional Canarian dress, and the historic transfer of the standard from the Town Hall to the church of San Miguel Arcángel. Aldea Blanca, Guargacho, El Roque and Las Zocas also maintain their own local festivities.
Other events
The municipal cultural calendar also includes festivities in Aldea Blanca, Guargacho, El Roque and Las Zocas, together with Corpus Christi, San Juan and Santa Cecilia celebrations.
