Local festivals in Puerto de la Cruz

The Great July Festivals bring together celebrations for Gran Poder de Dios, Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Saint Elmo. The fishing harbour, Paseo de San Telmo, squares and town-centre streets link religious observances with folklore, music, sport and community events.

Usual celebration

Characteristic events include the opening proclamation and gala, the Gran Poder de Dios procession, Mass at the harbour and the sea-and-land procession of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Saint Elmo. The cucaña pole-climbing contest, sardine feast, parade, Baile de Magos and folk processions complete July's popular identity.

The local calendar also includes the International Carnival, Saint John's Eve at Playa Jardín, the Cacharro and Chestnut Festival for Saint Andrew and the MUECA street arts festival.
