Local festivals in Los Llanos de Aridane

The Nuestra Señora de los Remedios patronal festivities are usually celebrated over several weeks from June into early July, with the principal day on 2 July. The raising of the flag and the opening speech begin a cycle culminating in Mass, a procession from the main church to Plaza de España and the traditional Loa to the Virgin.

Pilgrimage, livestock and La Palma culture

The San Isidro pilgrimage passes through the streets with decorated carts, traditional music, folk ensembles and local dress. The island livestock fair recalls the importance of farming, while the offering brings neighbourhood, cultural, social, sports and religious associations together with the Town Council and parish.

Other celebrations

Carnival occupies streets and stages with comparsas, batucadas, traditional masked characters and clouds of powder. Holy Week and neighbourhood festivals such as Triana complete a calendar in which parishes, residents’ associations, cultural groups and the wider community participate.
