Local festivals in La Matanza de Acentejo

The El Salvador and Nuestra Señora del Rosario patronal festivities are usually celebrated from late July into early August. The main square and streets bring together religious observances, music, Canarian folklore, community gatherings and cultural events organised by the Town Council and local organisations.

San Antonio Abad and the livestock Octava

The San Antonio Abad celebration begins on 17 January and continues over the following Sundays. During the livestock Octava, farmers and livestock keepers bring their animals before the saint to receive a blessing, while pilgrims from across Tenerife gather in and around the church. Wax ex-votos and other popular votive customs are also preserved.

Other events: neighbourhood celebrations

The calendar extends across the municipality's settlements with the Virgen del Carmen in El Caletón, Perpetuo Socorro in San Antonio, Nuestra Señora de Guía and celebrations linked to crosses and neighbourhoods. Parishes, committees, cultural groups and residents maintain processions, music and traditions connecting the centre with the agricultural and coastal landscape.
