Local festivals in Güímar

The Bajada de la Virgen del Socorro is usually celebrated over several days at the beginning of September. The pilgrimage leaves Güímar town centre and accompanies the image to the hamlet of El Socorro, with folk music groups, traditional dress, carts and foods connected with local culture; the later Subida returns the image to San Pedro church.

Other celebrations: San Pedro patronal festivities

At the end of June, the San Pedro festivities fill the historic centre with processions, music, open-air dances and activities organised by local groups and associations. San Pedro Apóstol church and its square form the religious and civic centre of the celebration.

Pilgrimages and settlement festivities

San Antonio Abad opens the annual pilgrimage cycle near the beginning of the year. The calendar also reaches El Escobonal, Puertito de Güímar, Lomo de Mena, El Tablado, Fátima and other settlements with celebrations dedicated to San José, Santiago Apóstol, the Virgen del Carmen, San Carlos and other local devotions.
