Local festivals in El Rosario
The pilgrimage in honour of Nuestra Señora de La Esperanza is usually celebrated around the first weekend in August in La Esperanza. Carts, folk groups, pilgrims and families accompany the image through the main streets, while Plaza del Adelantado and other local venues host music, traditional displays and community gatherings. The Town Council, parish, festival committee and cultural groups take part in organising the celebration.
San Isidro and coastal festivities
On 15 May, El Chorrillo and Llano Blanco hold the San Isidro Labrador and Santa María de la Cabeza pilgrimage, a tradition begun in 1916. On the coast, Our Lady of Mount Carmel is usually honoured on 16 July: boats accompany the image from Radazul marina towards Varadero and Boca Cangrejo, bringing crews, residents and maritime communities together.
