Local festivals in Tías
The municipality’s oldest festival, dedicated to Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, is usually celebrated around its principal day on 2 February in Tías. Local tradition connects the church and devotion with former prayers for rain; the settlement celebrates San Blas on the following day.
Other celebrations: San Antonio and settlement festivities
San Antonio is celebrated in Tías around 13 June. The calendar continues with San Juan in Puerto del Carmen, San Pedro in Mácher and Nuestra Señora de la Magdalena in Masdache, while Conil shares celebrations dedicated to María Magdalena and the Sagrado Corazón de Jesús. Residents and local associations take part in the events across these settlements.
Virgen del Carmen and seafaring tradition
Puerto del Carmen usually dedicates the first week of August to Nuestra Señora del Carmen. Religious and popular events reflect the coastal settlement’s relationship with the sea and complete a calendar in which each locality preserves its own devotion and community participation.
