Festivals in Teror

Discover the main festivals and traditions of Teror, a Marian town in the interior of Gran Canaria.

Local festivals in Teror

The Fiesta del Pino is usually celebrated each September in Teror and brings pilgrims from across Gran Canaria and the archipelago in honour of the patron of the Diocese of the Canary Islands. The offering pilgrimage on 7 September and the Day of the Pino on the 8th connect the Basílica del Pino church and the historic centre through music, folklore, devotion and produce carried by the island's municipalities.

Water Festival and farming traditions

During the second half of July, the Water Festival recalls an old act of thanksgiving for rain and honours San Isidro Labrador. Its pilgrimage, Baile de Taifas and livestock fair preserve neighbourhood participation and the municipality's agricultural and pastoral memory.

Other celebrations: flowers and neighbourhood festivals

On the Friday after Corpus Christi, handmade carpets of leaves, flowers, pigments and salt accompany the Sacred Heart procession through the historic centre. Between May and October, associations and committees also organise patronal festivities in El Álamo, El Faro, Arbejales, San Isidro, El Palmar and other Teror neighbourhoods.
