Local festivals in Teguise
The festivities of Nuestra Señora del Carmen are usually celebrated over several days during July in both La Villa de Teguise and Caleta de Sebo on La Graciosa. In La Villa, the streets of the historic centre host the opening speech, music, popular culture, religious observances and a procession accompanied by the municipal band.
La Graciosa’s seafaring tradition
On La Graciosa, devotion to the Virgen del Carmen is closely linked to the sea. The maritime procession carries the image by boat and makes a floral offering in memory of those who died at sea, with the parish, festival committee and local community taking part.
Other celebrations across the municipality
Tahiche honours Santiago Apóstol and Santa Ana with a pilgrimage, offering, Mass and procession. Residents of La Villa and Tiagua also take part in the island pilgrimage to Nuestra Señora de los Dolores at Mancha Blanca, while Carnival brings comparsas, music and popular events to several settlements across the municipality.
