Local festivals in Beasain

The Loinatz Jaiak are usually celebrated over several days in May and are Beasain's main festivities. The opening is marked by the firework announcement and Mari's descent, while drum parades, txistularis, joaldunak, giants and big-headed figures carry the celebrations through the streets and squares. Cuadrillas, associations and local committees organise many of the events.

Sokadantza, food and rural sport

The council and children's sokadantza performances preserve traditional dance within the Loinaz festivities. Food competitions between societies, snail and blood sausage tastings, pelota, traditional games, bertsolaris and rural sports displays bring cultural heritage and community life together.

Other celebrations: San Martín de Loinaz

On 5 February, Beasain honours its patron, San Martín de Loinaz. The day includes a floral offering, an aurresku, solemn Mass, music and popular activities. The Blood Sausage Brotherhood takes part with its chapter, a parade of brotherhoods and a tasting in Zubimuzu square, accompanied by cultural associations and local groups.
