Local festivals in Ayala/Aiara

Ayala/Aiara distributes its festivals among its many villages and local councils. The Town Council, administrative boards, associations, cuadrillas and residents organise separate programmes in each settlement's squares, churches, pelota courts and public spaces.

Usual celebration

The municipality's common patronal reference is San Prudencio on 28 April. The year also brings, among others, San Isidro in Respaldiza, San Juan in Murga, San Pedro in Menagarai, La Magdalena in Luiaondo and Las Nieves in Quejana. The duration depends on each locality's programme and may cover one day or several days, with mass or a pilgrimage, community meals, music, rural sports, children's activities and neighbourhood gatherings.

Local public holidays in 2026

28 April, San Prudencio, is the non-working day shared throughout Álava. Ayala has no single second date for the whole municipality: BOTHA assigns each locality its own paid, non-recoverable day in 2026.

Other events

The municipal list also includes the San Vitores festival and local fairs. Quejana's monumental complex, routes through the Ayala valley and cultural programming in Basque and Spanish complete the calendar without replacing each local council's own schedule.
