Local festivals in Alegría-Dulantzi
San Blas and September's patronal festivities are Alegría-Dulantzi's two principal celebrations, with events organised by the Town Council and the involvement of cuadrillas, cultural and sports associations, dance groups, hospitality businesses and residents.
Usual celebration
San Blas is celebrated on 3 February; on the preceding Saturday, Dulantzi residents stage the battle between Carlists and Liberals. The patronal festivities last several days in September across the main square, historic centre, pelota court and other municipal venues, with an opening rocket, big-head figures, music, community meals, rural sports and children's activities. The 2026 municipal notice identifies patronal festival dates between 11 and 19 September, but it is not in itself a complete annual programme.
Local public holidays in 2026
Álava's official calendar establishes 28 April, San Prudencio, throughout the historic territory, and 3 February, San Blas, specifically in Alegría-Dulantzi. These are the two paid, non-recoverable local non-working days; the September patronal festivities are not listed as an employment holiday.
Other events
The San Blas fair combines the patronal celebration with crafts and agriculture, while the amateur theatre festival and Casa de Cultura programme extend the municipal calendar beyond the public holidays.
