Local festivals in Sóller
Sa Fira and Es Firó form Sóller's major May festival cycle, while Sant Bartomeu, the town's patron saint, is the focus of the August celebrations. Both programmes bring together tradition, music, culture and the participation of local associations and festival groups.
Usual celebration
Sa Fira is held on the second Sunday in May and Es Firó on the following Monday. Es Firó re-enacts the events of 11 May 1561 through the Moros 11 de Maig, Pagesos Sant Ponç 1561 and Pageses groups, with scenes linking Port de Sóller to the streets and squares of the town centre. The day includes the landing, historic routes and popular performances in an operation coordinated by the City Council and the festival organisations.
Other events in the cultural programme
Sant Bartomeu completes the August calendar with music, culture, sport and the Vall de Sóller Literary Awards in a programme distinct from Sa Fira and Es Firó.
