Local festivals in Teverga

Festivals in Teverga's villages are usually celebrated between June and September. The main dates include Santiago Apóstol in San Martín, Nuestra Señora del Cébrano in Carrea and the country festival at Cueiro, alongside patronal celebrations in other villages across the municipality.

Usual celebration

The main places are San Martín, Carrea and the meadows around Taja. Santiago normally lasts from 25 to 28 July in San Martín. On 15 August, pilgrims and families walk to the sanctuary of Nuestra Señora del Cébrano for the novena, open-air Mass, procession, picnic on the meadows and the traditional auctions of the ramera and ramu. The Festival Committee, Town Council, residents, pipers and pilgrims take part in this event of Regional Tourist Interest. Cueiro is held on the last Saturday of August or the first Saturday of September in Taja.

Other events and culture

The municipal calendar includes San Juan, village festivals in Villanueva, La Hedrada, Santianes, Páramo and Campiello, Carnival in San Martín, livestock fairs and cultural and family events connected with the brañas, the Senda del Oso and the municipality's heritage.
