Local festivals in San Martín del Rey Aurelio
The council's festive calendar is shared among Sotrondio, L'Entregu/El Entrego, Blimea, Santa Bárbara and its rural communities, with summer festivals and food celebrations associated with individual parishes.
Usual celebration
Les Cebolles Rellenes is usually celebrated over several days around San Andrés on 30 November in the streets and squares of L'Entregu. Bars, cider houses and restaurants serve stuffed onions, while local associations and hospitality businesses collaborate on cultural and festive events. El Entrego also holds La Laguna in July; Sotrondio hosts the San Martín festivities and Los Nabos food festival in November, while Blimea celebrates Las Nieves in August and Los Pimientos Rellenos in December.
Local public holidays in 2026
The Town Council sets 17 February, Carnival, for the whole municipality. In addition, 11 November, San Martín and Los Nabos, is a local public holiday in the parishes of San Martín, Santa Bárbara and Blimea; and 30 November, San Andrés and Les Cebolles, applies in San Andrés, L'Entregu and Cocañín in the Güeria valley. The parish scope of these last two dates is essential: they are not three council-wide holidays.
Other events and cultural traditions
The municipal calendar includes the summer festivals of Sotrondio, La Laguna, La Malena, Las Nieves, La Asunción, San Roque and Santa Bárbara, as well as espichas, the cider competition, the trade and exhibition fair and the honey fair. Festival societies, residents' associations, bands, peñas, hospitality businesses, residents and visitors from the Nalón valley take part.
