Local festivals in Castrillón

Castrillón's main municipal celebration is the Piedras Blancas festivities and Día de Castrillón, while the separate settlements across the council retain their own festivals. The Town Council, neighbourhood associations, clubs, artists and musical groups take part in a programme using squares, parks, streets and venues in the capital.

Usual celebration

The Piedras Blancas festivities run for several days around Día de Castrillón. Their usual events combine an opening speech, communal meal, music, market, fairground attractions, sport and fireworks in places including Plaza de Europa, Plaza de la Constitución, Parque de la Libertad and Calle Pablo Iglesias.

Programme for 2026

The Town Council scheduled the 2026 festivities from 3 to 6 July. The 6 July programme included a market and food area, children's fairground, opening speech, communal meal, dancing and orchestras, as well as fireworks. The municipal decree concerning the festivities confirms their four-day duration and their connection with Piedras Blancas and Día de Castrillón.

Local public holidays in 2026

The resolution published in the Official Gazette of Asturias declares 6 April, Easter Monday, and 6 July, Día de Castrillón, as Castrillón's local non-working holidays in 2026. Only the second coincides with the Piedras Blancas programme, whose festival period ran from 3 to 6 July.

Other cultural events

San Adriano festivities bring together Mass, a procession, the bagpipe band, a lunchtime music session, communal meal and games around the chapel and pilgrimage meadow. The Salinas Longboard Festival, Festival Folklórico Nacional and Valey Centro Cultural's activity complete the council's cultural calendar.
