Local festivals in Cangas del Narcea
El Carmen and La Magdalena are Cangas del Narcea's main festivals. La Descarga on 16 July, when thousands of rockets are fired as the Virgen del Carmen crosses the Roman bridge, is their emblematic event and brings together Sociedad de Artesanos, local clubs, the council, Cofeca and residents.
Usual celebration
The celebration usually lasts from mid-July until La Magdalena on the 22nd. El Arbolón on 28 June opens the preliminary cycle; during the festivals there are an opening address, club parade, wine and bun distribution, processions, hand-fired rocket displays, music and open-air dances. The Carmen chapel, Santa María Magdalena basilica, town hall, Roman bridge, Prao del Molín and central streets form the main route.
Other events
