Local festivals in Zaragoza
The Fiestas del Pilar are Zaragoza's largest festive and cultural season. In October, Plaza del Pilar, the historic centre, parks, auditoriums and neighbourhoods host religious events, folklore, festival clubs, concerts, street theatre, circus, family activities and food events.
Usual celebration
The proclamation and rocket from the Town Hall balcony open the festivities. On 12 October, thousands of people in traditional dress take part in the Floral Offering to the Virgen del Pilar; the Offering of Fruits and the Rosario de Cristal complete the traditional core. Central squares and major music venues extend the programme across the city.
Other events
San Valero retains its winter celebration around Plaza del Pilar, while Cincomarzada fills the parks with neighbourhood gatherings. Holy Week, the jota competitions and the year-round programmes at the Auditorium and Teatro Principal complete the city's cultural calendar.
