Local festivals in Teruel
The Fiestas del Ángel, known as La Vaquilla, are Teruel's main celebration. The peñas, brass bands, the tying of the scarf around the Torico and the roped bulls turn the historic centre into the festival's principal setting.
Usual celebration
La Vaquilla takes place in July, from Saturday to Monday on the weekend associated with Saint Christopher. The popular festivities begin with the town hall bell and the scarf ceremony at the Torico; the peñas and their brass bands fill the streets and squares, while the Mass for the Guardian Angel, the gathering at the bullring, the heifers and the roped bulls complete the traditional events.
