Local festivals in Palomares del Río

The Fair and Patronal Festivities are usually celebrated over several days in early September at the fairground and culminate in the services and procession of Nuestra Señora de la Estrella, the town's patron and perpetual mayoress. Marquees, rides, family gatherings and peña activities accompany a celebration organised by the Town Council with local associations and community groups.

Nuestra Señora de la Estrella

The Brotherhood prepares the services honouring the Virgen de la Estrella, whose principal function brings the community together before the procession through the municipality's streets. Women and girls wearing white mantillas form one of the day's most distinctive customs, maintained by families and devotees across generations.

Other events: the journey to El Rocío

In spring, the Nuestra Señora del Rocío Brotherhood of Palomares del Río begins its journey after mass and the departure of the Simpecado banner through the streets. Pilgrims on foot, horse riders and decorated carts form a party combining devotion and fellowship on the way to the village of El Rocío, seen off by residents and municipal representatives.
