Festivals in Olivares

Discover the festivals of Olivares, from the century-old Las Nieves Fair to Corpus, the Baroque Market and the olive-harvest tradition.

Local festivals in Olivares

The Las Nieves Fair and Patronal Festivities are usually celebrated over several days around 5 August. Mass and the patron's procession pass through the town centre before the fairground opens, with its marquees bringing together families, associations and visitors. Originating in the livestock fairs of the late nineteenth century, the celebration maintains music, community gatherings and local traditions organised by the Town Council with municipal groups.

Baroque Market

In spring, the Baroque Market usually transforms the historic quarter and the Palacio del Conde Duque for four days. Artisans, associations and cultural companies take part in Golden Age theatre, historical performances, parades, music, workshops, exhibitions and food events evoking seventeenth-century Olivares.

Other celebrations: Corpus and the olive harvest

Corpus Christi has centuries-old roots and brings religious observances and community participation to the streets of Olivares. On the last Sunday in September, the Fiesta del Verdeo celebrates olive-growing culture and the start of the olive harvest. Holy Week, San Sebastián, San Blas and events linked to the Rocío pilgrimage complete the traditional calendar.
