Local festivals in Los Palacios y Villafranca

Feria de Farolillos and the pilgrimage of San Isidro Labrador and Santa María de la Cabeza are two distinct traditions in the town's calendar.

Usual celebration

The Los Palacios y Villafranca fair is usually celebrated over four days in September at the Real fairground. The lighting test and pescaíto supper open a period of booths, horse-and-carriage parades, equestrian competitions, flamenco, concerts and fireworks, organised by the Town Council with associations, dance schools, older residents and neighbours taking part. The documented 2025 municipal edition lasted from 25 to 28 September and is used to describe the format, not as the 2026 calendar.

Programme for 2026

The official programme for the 2026 San Isidro Labrador and Santa María de la Cabeza pilgrimage began with the triduum from 6 to 8 May at Parroquia Santa María la Blanca, followed by the main service, opening speech, children's pilgrimage and an exhibition of decorated wagons. The principal day on 16 May set off at 7.45 am towards La Corchuela peri-urban park for the pilgrims' gathering, organised by the brotherhood and Town Council.

Local public holidays in 2026

The BOJA declares 5 August and 24 September 2026 as local public holidays in Los Palacios y Villafranca. These are the two paid, non-recoverable non-working days and should not be confused with the duration of the fair or the date of the pilgrimage.

Other events and cultural dates

The Agricultural, Livestock and Gastronomy Fair held its 30th edition from 10 to 12 April 2026 at the fairground. The institutional programme combined an agricultural-industry and trade exhibition, local food, traditional farming crafts and participation by local businesses and organisations.
