Local festivals in Estepa
The Octava de los Remedios is usually celebrated for four days around the third Sunday in May. The Churretero neighbourhood, Calle Roya and Plaza de los Remedios are decorated with festival booths, music and rides; shots in honour of the Virgin open the festivities, the procession crosses the neighbourhood and Monday's Subía returns the image to its shrine to the sound of pasodobles, sevillanas and the Salve. The brotherhood, Town Council, parish, residents and visitors sustain the celebration.
Estepa Fair
On the first weekend in September, the fair lasts three days from the switching-on of the lights. The fairground hosts booths decorated with lanterns and shawls, rides, performances in the municipal marquee and equestrian displays, involving associations, local clubs, riders, travelling fair operators, hospitality businesses, families and groups of friends.
Other celebrations: patron and Holy Week
The Virgen de la Asunción is usually carried in procession on 15 August from her church through the principal streets. From Palm Sunday to Easter, nine brotherhoods hold Estepa's Holy Week across churches, neighbourhoods and the official route; penitents, bearers, acolytes, women in mantillas, bands, parishes and the General Council of Brotherhoods shape the processions.
