Local festivals in Espartinas
Easter Sunday is the high point of Holy Week in Espartinas and a celebration recognised as being of Andalusian Tourist Interest. After the Easter Vigil, the Virgen de los Dolores is carried in procession beside the seventeenth-century monstrance kept in the parish church, with the participation of the sacramental brotherhood and many residents.
El Rocío and devotion to Loreto
The Espartinas El Rocío Brotherhood, founded in 1940 and canonically established the following year, leaves from Nuestra Señora de la Asunción parish church for its pilgrimage. The nearby Loreto Monastery, associated with the patron saint of the Aljarafe, is another focus of devotion and community gatherings for brotherhoods and residents.
Other celebrations: the Assumption and fair
Around 15 August, Espartinas honours its patron Nuestra Señora de la Asunción with a triduum and community events. The fair and festivities are usually celebrated in the first week of September at the Tablantes fairground, beside the bullring, with casetas, music, sevillanas and activities promoted by the Town Council and local groups.
