Local festivals of Écija
Date and duration. Écija’s patron, Our Lady of the Valley, is celebrated on 8 September. The Real Feria de Septiembre usually occupies six days in the second half of the month at the fairground.
Places, traditions and participation. The fair takes place in the recinto ferial, organised around booths and attractions. Its municipal ordinances specifically regulate horse riding and hitching, the concession, structure and use of booths and the operation of attractions. The City Council participates through the Major Festivals area, the people and entities that own booths, professionals from the venue, horsemen, neighbors and visitors. The festival of the Virgin of the Valley maintains a patron character distinct from this fair activity. Other events with their own identity are Holy Week and the Ecijana Flamenco Night, which are not part of the duration of the September Fair.
