Local festivals in Cantillana

The usual celebration of the Nuestra Señora de la Asunción and Divina Pastora de las Almas festivals takes place between August and September. Nuestra Señora de la Asunción parish church, the Divina Pastora sanctuary, Plaza del Llano, Alameda and streets in the historic centre receive images, processions, music and devotional gatherings. The two confraternities, parish, Town Council, bands, families, residents and many visitors take part in celebrations recognised as Festivals of Tourist Interest in Andalusia.

San Benito pilgrimage

The San Benito pilgrimage is usually held on the final weekend of August. Cantillana's historic confraternity travels to the saint's chapel in Castilblanco de los Arroyos, accompanied by members, its choir, worshippers, riders and families. Local Police, Civil Protection and municipal services work with the confraternity along the route and during the events honouring the patron.

Other events: Pastora Candlemas

The Pastora Candlemas is usually celebrated in February with a pilgrimage from the confraternity house to the Divina Pastora chapel. The drum school, confraternity choir, riders, decorated carts and horse-drawn carriages join the procession around Alameda and Calle Real before the presentation of the confraternity's children at the sanctuary.
