Local festivals in Brenes
The Virgen del Rosario patronal festivities are usually celebrated at the beginning of October. The patron's image passes through Brenes on the first Saturday of the month, accompanied by the town band and fireworks; the October Fair begins on the following Wednesday, lasts until Sunday and brings families and local clubs together at the fairground.
San Benito Abad pilgrimage
On the last Sunday in August, the San Benito Abad brotherhood organises a pilgrimage from Brenes to the hermitage in Castilblanco de los Arroyos. Pilgrims, horse riders and decorated carts share the route and a day of community life around the sanctuary.
Other celebrations: Corpus Christi, May crosses and Holy Week
For Corpus Christi, flower petals cover the streets and balconies are decorated for the procession. May brings services, a festive procession and Holy Cross celebrations organised by the brotherhoods; Holy Week completes the calendar with confraternities and processions through the town centre.
