Local festivals in Ronda
The Pedro Romero Fair and Festival is usually celebrated over several days in the first week of September. The opening parade and switching-on of the lights begin the festivities in the streets and at the Ángel Harillo fairground.
Usual celebration
The fair combines music, dance and equestrian tradition. The bullring hosts the Corrida Goyesca and other events, while the carriage-driving exhibition displays carriages and harnesses. The Town Council, clubs, associations, riders and the public participate in a celebration dedicated to Ronda-born bullfighter Pedro Romero.
Other celebrations
In spring, Ronda Romántica recreates the former Royal May Fair with the towns and villages of the Serranía, nineteenth-century dress, muleteers, bandits, horses, folklore and ballads. The Virgen de la Cabeza pilgrimage takes pilgrims to the rock-cut chapel, where singing, dancing and shared food accompany the gathering.
