Local festivals in Pizarra
The Royal Fair is usually celebrated over five days, from 14 to 18 August, in honour of Nuestra Señora de la Fuensanta. The patron's bajá from her chapel to San Pedro Apóstol church opens the festivities and the fair lights. Music, performances, community gatherings and events organised by the brotherhood bring residents and visitors together during the municipality's main festive period.
The Virgen de la Fuensanta Rifa
On the night of 15 August, the procession includes the distinctive Rifa: using tickets bought along the route, participants can call for a halt and briefly replace one of the people carrying the float. The image alternates between routes through the upper and lower parts of the town. Documented since the descent of 1681, this tradition is recognised as a Festival of Tourist Interest in Andalusia.
Other celebrations: El Santo pilgrimage
Every 28 February, residents, walkers and horse riders climb to the El Santo site for the pilgrimage dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The image placed there in 1995 presides over a community day in the natural setting, with civic events, music and participation by local clubs and groups. The settlements of Zalea, Cerralba and La Vega complete the calendar with their own fairs.
