Local festivals in Mijas

Mijas's festival calendar is shared among Mijas Pueblo, Las Lagunas, La Cala and Osunillas. The main patronal reference in Mijas Pueblo is the Virgen de la Peña, while the other settlements retain fairs and celebrations of their own.

Usual celebration

The Mijas Pueblo fair is usually held over several days in the first half of September, with 8 September marking the day of the Virgen de la Peña. Festivities occupy the village streets, the Jardines de la Muralla, the Inmaculada church, the Virgen's chapel and the fairground, with a daytime fair, music, rides and a procession. The municipal tourism portal also places the Las Lagunas fair at the end of June and the La Cala fair at the end of July; residents, local groups and the Town Council take part in a calendar spread across all three main settlements.

Local public holidays in 2026

The resolution published by the Andalusian Regional Government declares 8 September and 15 October in Mijas. These are the two local public holidays in 2026; the first coincides with the feast of the Virgen de la Peña, but does not by itself define the full duration of the fair.

Other events

The official calendar includes San Antón on 17 January in Osunillas, with the blessing of animals; the Virgen del Carmen on 16 July in La Cala, with a procession; and the Villa de Mijas Theatre Festival, alongside May crosses, carnival, concerts and exhibitions.
