Festivals in Casares

Discover the festivals of Casares, where the Virgen del Rosario del Campo romería, the August fair and the September celebrations bring together the historic hill town and the municipality's other settlements.

Local festivals in Casares

The Virgen del Rosario del Campo romería is usually held on the final weekend in May. Residents and people with family links to Casares return to accompany the patron, share the route and gather in the countryside for one of the municipality's most deeply rooted celebrations.

August fair

On the first weekend in August, the historic hill town hosts the four-day Casares Fair. Orchestras and dancing fill La Carrera and Plaza de España, while El Llano becomes the focus of night-time music. The Town Council, associations and local businesses take part in a celebration that transforms the town's whitewashed streets.

Other celebrations: patronal feast and Feria del Cristo

On the second weekend in September, the patronal feast includes the transfer of the image from her chapel in Plaza de España to the Convent church and religious observances for different generations. The Feria del Cristo, also in September, restores the open-air dance atmosphere traditionally used to mark the end of summer and the conclusion of the harvest.
