Local festivals in Campillos
The San Benito Abad celebration, honouring the patron saint of Campillos, is usually held on the second Sunday in July. The procession leaves the chapel at sunset from the highest point in the municipality and crosses streets traditionally decorated for the occasion; the brotherhood, parish, Town Council and residents maintain a devotion documented since the saint was chosen as patron in 1629.
Holy Week in Campillos
Holy Week lasts for five procession days between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday. Six brotherhoods carry their images around the parish church, Santa Vera Cruz, Cruz Blanca and central streets, accompanied by bands, penitents, Roman soldiers, women in mantillas and throne bearers; the consiliarios, wearing their distinctive dress, help organise each procession.
