Local festivals in Mancha Real

The Virgen del Rosario pilgrimage is usually celebrated over one weekend with no fixed date, before the October fair. Pilgrims climb to the chapel and camp around the sanctuary; on Saturday they attend mass and on Sunday accompany the image to the town church. The brotherhood, parish, Town Council, families and local clubs maintain the route and community gathering.

Fair in honour of the Virgen del Rosario

Over several days around 7 October, the fair occupies Plaza de la Constitución, the park and the fairground. The morning diana, float parade, offering, procession, music and rides bring residents and visitors together under the organisation of the Town Council, parish, associations and local groups.

Other celebrations: San José, San Marcos and Moniduras

On 19 March, the woodworking trade and local residents celebrate San José with a monumental falla, a tradition begun in 1982 combining criticism, humour and a festive burning. San Marcos, patron of Mancha Real, has his day on 25 April. On the second and third Sundays of September, Moniduras bring a procession and old songs from the square through the streets, involving singers, the parish and residents.
