Local festivals in San Juan del Puerto

The San Juan Bautista patronal festivities are usually celebrated for one week, from 18 to 24 June. Plaza de España, Calle Pozonuevo, the bullring, the fairground and the parish church host the coronation and opening speech, parades, bull-running events, music, religious services and the patron's procession. The Town Council, San Juan Bautista Sacramental Brotherhood, Municipal Band, peñas, associations and residents take part in a celebration combining devotion and bull-running traditions.

Usual celebration of the San Isidro pilgrimage

The San Isidro Labrador pilgrimage usually lasts three days in early September at La Torre estate. The pilgrims' route, country gatherings, music and events honouring the saint shape an occasion organised with the participation of the Town Council, the brotherhood, horse riders, families and local groups.

Other celebrations: Carmen, the Cross and popular culture

The festival calendar also includes the Virgen del Carmen gathering around 16 July, with religious events and street celebrations, and the Festival of the Cross in May. Carnival, Holy Week and the cultural week in late August complete other usual celebrations promoted by the Town Council, parishes, brotherhoods, associations and the municipality's cultural groups.
