The Virgen del Rosario patronal festivities are usually celebrated for a week around 7 October. The old quarter, Paseo de las Flores and the coastal area host an opening speech, parades, bands, religious observances, a fair and the Romería del Sur by the sea, involving pilgrims, horse riders, floats, associations and families.
San Juan festivities
Around 24 June, Salobreña's San Juan festivities last several days. La Charca beach and the town streets host a daytime fair, music, parades and water activities; the night of the 23rd centres on a bonfire and fireworks, followed by the saint's procession through the town accompanied by the Salobreña Music Band.
Other celebrations: Holy Week
During Holy Week, brotherhoods including Santísimo Cristo de la Humillación, Santo Sepulcro, San Juan Evangelista and the Marian confraternities organise Stations of the Cross and processions through the town. Parishes, bands, bearers, penitents and residents sustain processions linking the churches with the hill town's streets, viewpoints and squares.
