Local festivals in Ogíjares
The Popular Festivities honouring the Santísimo Cristo de la Expiración are usually celebrated over several days around the second weekend in September. Mass and the procession of the image bring residents together for a fair, concerts, workshops, dance displays, sports activities and community gatherings across the municipality.
Pilgrimage to the Dílar river
The festival Monday centres on the pilgrimage to the Dílar river, a countryside gathering that brings families and groups of friends together beside the water. The shared food, community atmosphere and route from the town link the September festivities with the landscape of the Vega de Granada.
San Sebastián and other celebrations
Ogíjares honours its patron, San Sebastián Mártir, around 20 January. The image leaves Santa Ana church to travel through the streets accompanied by the municipal band, while the celebration retains Mass, the procession and the traditional Olla de San Sebastián stew. The local calendar also includes Corpus Christi, the Day of the Cross, San Isidro and Santa Ana.
