The Feria del Carmen y de la Sal is held around 16 July, the feast of the Virgen del Carmen and the main day of the city's seafaring tradition. Salt carpets, the procession, casetas, concerts, fairground rides and gatherings organised by brotherhoods and associations reflect San Fernando's relationship with the sea and its salt marshes.
